Beyond a mural that simply fills a surface with color, this work excavates the texture of the wall itself and raises it into art. a-ground presents the a;scratch landscape improvement campaign carried out in Manila, the Philippines. Using wire brushes and carving tools, we scrape the outer layer of the wall with precision, drawing out the dimensionality hidden beneath. Old walls carrying the full record of their years are reborn, through a-ground's hands, as bold geometric three-dimensional patterns. Because no paint is applied, the wall's original material and color remain, delivering a striking visual while preserving the essence of the space. It is a technique that treats the traces left by time as the material itself.
